Main topics of the joint project are
- Mechanisms of crystal growth on calcite surfaces
- dissolved anorganic species
- dissolved organiuc species
These three key points result in a complex interplay between the aquatic system and the calcite mineral surface which offer different application possibilities. Investigations include influences of adsorption and integration of chemical impurities in the crystal structure on the reactivity of the calcite surface as well as the effect of organic and inorganic additives with regard to the crystal growth of calcite. Basic and main goal is a molecular understanding of crystal growth processes with respect to technical application.
For that purpose the joint projects is splitted into four parts to achieve a comprehensive investigation of the relevant aspects.
